Warwick Vase

3.800,00

Patinated bronze with relief

Height 13 cm, length 21 cm

This model reproduces the famous Warwick Vase, a monumental Roman vase created between 118 and 133 AD and discovered in 1771 at Hadrian’s Villa in Tivoli by the painter and antiquarian Gavin Hamilton. After its restoration and arrival in England as part of the Earl of Warwick’s collection, the vase became one of the most admired and reproduced classical antiquities of European Neoclassicism. This version in patinated bronze preserves the most characteristic features of the original, especially the handles formed by intertwined stems and the relief of Bacchic masks, elements linked to the Dionysian imagery of classical antiquity.
