Founded in 1794, the German firm Werner & Mieth established itself at the dawn of Neoclassicism as one of the most prestigious foundries and decorative workshops in Germany. Its founders, trained in France, Holland and England, acquired key technical and aesthetic knowledge there, which they applied to the production of lamps, candelabra, ornamental furniture and luxury tableware. Their production combined quality craftsmanship with designs inspired by classical models, which meant that their pieces were not only appreciated in German palaces and noble residences, but also exported to other European countries.
