Heute präsentieren wir einen für die Goethe Zeit typischen Beistelltisch. Schon in der römischen Antike waren Beistelltische unter “Mensae” bekannt, was auf Latein “Tisch” bedeutet. In der römischen Antike wurden sie vielseitig eingesetzt. In Privathäusern wurden sie im Esszimmer oder in Empfangsbereichen genutzt, um Mahlzeiten zu servieren und persönliche Gegenstände abzulegen.

Today we present a side table typical for the Goethe period. Even in Roman antiquity, side tables were known as “mensae”, which means “table” in Latin. In Roman antiquity they were used in many ways. In private homes, they were used in the dining room or reception areas to serve meals and place personal items.
