Antinous war ein junger griechischer Mann im 2. Jahrhundert n.Chr., der einer der Geliebten des römischen Kaisers Hadrian war. Antinous begleitete Hadrian auf seinen Reisen durch das Römische Reich und wurde zu einer wichtigen Persönlichkeit am Hof des Kaisers. Nach seinem Tod im Jahr 130 n.Chr. im Nil wurde er von Hadrian verehrt, was zu Kulten und künstlerischen Darstellungen führte. Antinous wurde zu einem Symbol für Schönheit und tragische Liebe.

Antinous was a young Greek man of the 2nd century AD who was one of the lovers of the Roman Emperor Hadrian. Antinous accompanied Hadrian on his travels throughout the Roman Empire and became an important figure in the emperor’s court. After his death in 130 AD. in the Nile he was worshiped by Hadrian, leading to cults and artistic representations. Antinous became a symbol of beauty and tragic love.
